Andrew Eames runs the website with business partner Barbara Geier, who was formerly the press officer for the German Tourist Office in London.

The concept started with a chance meeting, many years ago, between the author and a lass from Lower Saxony, who he thought was rather good-looking.

Many years, and many visits to German in-laws later, the author was getting frustrated with trying to pitch destination articles to editors who only seemed interested in Oktoberfest and Christmas markets.

He saw the internet as an opportunity to write in more depth and more detail about a country which he thinks is overlooked and under-sold in the UK, and so GermanyisWunderbar was born.

The Germans say Ja! Verdammt gute Idee!
